Prep tables fail health inspections more often than any other piece of refrigeration in a kitchen, because the pans on top are the hardest part of the unit to keep cold. JRC repairs prep tables throughout Bend, OR.

The rail is cooled by air moving under the pans, and anything that interrupts it pushes product into the danger zone while the cabinet below reads perfectly fine. Overfilled pans, missing pan dividers, a lid left open through service, or a blocked evaporator will all do it. We check the airflow path and the actual pan temperatures rather than the cabinet display, then deal with the refrigeration side: condenser cleaning, gaskets, fan motors and charge.

Prep Table Refrigeration Repair FAQs

Frequently asked questions about Prep Table Refrigeration Repair

Questions we hear most often about Prep Table Refrigeration Repair in Bend, OR.

Talk to a real person
Why does my freezer keep icing up?
Ice is a symptom, and the cause is nearly always defrost or a door. A failed defrost heater, a drifted termination thermostat, a seized timer or a frozen drain line will all ice a coil. So will a gasket letting warm humid air in. We fix the cause, not just the ice.
Can you just top up my refrigerant?
We can, but it is money spent twice. Refrigerant is not consumed in normal running, so a system that is low has a leak. We find and repair it, then weigh in the correct charge. With current refrigerant prices, chasing a leak with top ups gets expensive quickly.
My ice machine makes thin cloudy cubes. Is it broken?
Usually it is scaled rather than broken. Mineral buildup insulates the evaporator plate, so cubes come out thin, cloudy or stuck, and production drops well before the machine quits. A descale and clean fixes most of these, and water filtration stops it returning.
Is a compressor replacement worth it or should I replace the unit?
It depends on the age of the equipment and what killed the compressor. A burnout contaminates the system with acid and adds flushing, drier replacement and a proper evacuation to the job. On an older unit, or one on a phased down refrigerant, a new condensing unit often costs less overall. We will price both.
Do you work on equipment you did not install?
Yes, that is most of what we do. We service walk ins, reach ins, ice machines, display cases and condensing units from all the common manufacturers, including systems that have been repaired piecemeal by several companies over the years.
